If you have multiple computers in your care, you may need to know everything about them, from their operating system to hardware. Instead of going from one computer to another, to view their resources, using a specialized application can be more efficient. With Global Network Inventory, you can audit any number of machines, over your local network. The software provides you with any information you need and it makes it very easy to discover other computers, on your network.

There are no challenges to encounter while installing Global Network Inventory on a Windows powered computer. The setup wizard will guide you through a series of basic configurations. The best part is that you don't have to make any kind of settings related to your network connection, so you can enjoy the software's functionality right away.

When it comes to scanning other computers, on a local network, Global Network Inventory satisfies the needs of all users, from beginners to experts. It is possible to scan a specific computer, using its name or IP address, scan an IP range, an entire domain or scan the computers which are specified in host file. You can provide names, addresses or a file's location on separate windows, on a toolbar or you can start an audit wizard and follow its instructions.

If you don't know any IP addresses, you can just type in a computer's host name and the program will find it just as fast. Scanned computers are organized in a tree structure, on the left side of the interface and you can view their inventories, on separate tabs, in the larger area on the right. By default, you will find numerous tabs, which contain all sorts of information regarding installed devices, logical disks, processors, video controllers, shared folders and much more. If the amount of information is overwhelming, you can filter it, to show only certain groups, like hardware, software, network and others.

It is also possible to filter the information before scanning a computer, by selecting specific elements, on the general settings menu. If you want to see a computer's hot fixes, services, startup items and nothing else, you may select these items and scan the computer. In this way, Global Network Inventory will look only for the information of your choice. Additionally, the software lets you generate reports and save them in plain text, HTML, XML or Excel format and make various output settings for individual sets of information (devices, adapters, etc).

Pros

You can audit any number of computers on your network. The software provides multiple methods of discovering and scanning computers, making the procedure easy, even for inexperienced users. Furthermore, it offers all the information you need about a remote computer and you can apply various filters.

Cons

There are no serious drawbacks to encounter. While using Global Network Inventory, you can find anything you need to know about one or more computers, on its well organized and easy to understand interface.
